MEDITATION FOR THE MONTH
Go with the flow. Accept both the good and the bad. Allow feelings to run their course, but don't prolong them.
Look to Nature for guidance. Disasters later seem as an attempt to rectify an imbalance.
Learn from the negative and move on. Life has its ups and downs. When you hit bottom, the only way is up.
When you are riding on top of the world, remember that something will bring you down a bit in the future.
Extreme Yin turns into Yang. Extreme Yang turns into Yin.
There is no need to run outside for better seeing, Nor to peer from a window. Rather abide at the center of your being; For the more you leave it, the less you learn. Search your heart and see if he is wise who takes each turn: the way to do is to be. (The Way of Life, # 47)
Those who know do not tell . Those who tell do not know. Not to set the tongue loose, but to curb it. Not to have edges that catch, but to remain untangled. Unblinded, unconfused is to find balance. And he who holds balance beyond sway of love or hate, beyond reach of profit or loss, beyond care of praise or blame, has attained the highest post in the world. (The Way of Life, # 56)
Water is the element associated with winter. It also has characteristics associated with Taoism. "Keep calm" - water can be gentle, yet it can overcome hardness (eg. the Grand Canyon). Let muddy water stand and it will clear.
2017: The Year of the Rooster. Other Roosters were born in 1909, 1921,1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, & 2005. It can also be called the phoenix, which is associated with transformation and rebirth. "This is a year of practical endeavors, conscientiousness, hard work, and discipline. Politically, conservative police states gain power, and law and order are championed." (Taoist Astrology - Susan Levitt & Jean Tang)
The Tao is always at ease. It overcomes without competing, answers without speaking a word, arrives without being summoned, accomplishes without a plan.
"Use a mirror in difficult times. When faced with adversity, you must ask whether you have done anything to bring misfortune upon yourself..... The resources for solving our problems are also within us. ...Reach deep within ...... more power to respond ... more confidence with overcoming." (365 Tao, by Deng Ming-Dao)
